2020 Pūkaha Wairarapa Garden Tour, 7 and 8 November

2020 Pūkaha Wairarapa Garden Tour, 7 and 8 November

This year celebrates a significant 10th anniversary milestone for this much-loved annual fundraising tour.

From humble beginnings, where a single day tour attracted local garden-loving audiences, to a fully-fledged weekend event enticing visitors from all over Aotearoa, Pūkaha’s Wairarapa Garden Tour now doubles as a drawcard for visitors to the Wairarapa.

This year, the tour will showcase gardens in the South Wairarapa. The self-drive route spans each of the towns of Featherston, Martinborough, Greytown, Carterton, and Gladstone.

“We’re excited to be able to share six new gardens to the tour this year and several that have never opened to the public before.  Tour-goers will be able to choose from a diverse lineup of real gardens and take heart from ordinary people whose generosity in sharing their passion and gardening knowledge is sure to inspire us all,” says organiser Rachael Dell.

A ticket provides entry into more than a dozen private gardens. The 2020 tour will showcase rural native plantings, flourishing edibles, smart designs for urban spaces, flowers galore, sustainable gardens, subtropical delights plus mighty remnant regenerating forests.

“The generosity of our gardeners in choosing to share their private gardens with the public to support Pūkaha is humbling. We love the community spirit our annual fundraiser fosters, not just for our national wildlife centre, but for the Wairarapa region,” says Emily Court, Pūkaha’s General Manager.

Delicious refreshments will be available in selected gardens, and BYO picnics are welcome.

Plants and gardening treats will also be available to buy.
